10 years, $275 million

A-Rod has just signed a 10-year, $275 million contract with the NY Spankees.

Amazing ... just amazing.

And disgusting ... no one is worth that much money to play baseball.

Truly, I'm at a loss for words.

It's fair market value, b. I don't think anyone should be paid more than a livable wage based on the job they do. But if MLB is taking in the kind of wampum that can support that, why shouldn't the players get a significant chunk of it? We the fans keep paying the money for the seats, NESN and fenway franks. That money has to go somewhere.

I understand what you're saying, but think about it ... is A-Rod worth it? He all but disappears in the post-season. How can even Scott Boras spin that when justifying his client is worth that kind of contract?
